Q100rm Weather

Privacy policy

Version of 1 November 2026 · the Q100rm Weather Forecast Android app (com.q100rm.app) and the q100rm.com website

1. In short

  • The app does not ask for location, contacts, camera or microphone access.
  • It has no ads, no analytics and no accounts.
  • Network requests happen only when you start them.
  • Everything the app stores stays on your device. We have no server it could be sent to.
  • The phone’s barometer is logged only when you turn logging on, and that log stays on the phone too.

2. Who is responsible

Q100rm Weather Forecast and this website are made by an independent developer (“we”). The developer’s name is shown on the app’s Google Play page.

Email for privacy questions: contact@q100rm.com.

3. Data on the device

The app keeps in its own folder on the phone:

  • station archives you downloaded and the computed forecast;
  • sensor reading logs, earthquake history and series loaded for charts;
  • the phone barometer log, if you turned on pressure logging or Storm: pressure values and the time of each reading;
  • map tiles you have viewed or saved for offline use;
  • settings and a record of your Pro purchase.

We never receive this data. You can delete it in the app’s Settings (“Wipe sensor data” with a choice of types, “Wipe pressure data”, “Saved maps”, clearing the cache) or by uninstalling the app.

You start any export of a station archive (ZIP) or pressure log (CSV) yourself and choose where the file goes. It never reaches us.

4. Network requests

When you download an archive, refresh the map or compare forecasts, the app contacts the services below. Each of them sees your IP address, as any website does, plus the request details: a point’s coordinates, the map area or a station number. The app identifies itself with its name and the developer’s contact, as MET Norway requires; none of your data is in that signature.

How these services handle IP addresses is set out in their own policies.

Nearby city names come from the GeoNames gazetteer (CC BY 4.0), which is built into the app. The app does not contact GeoNames.

5. Android permissions

PermissionWhy
INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATERequests you start, and checking whether you are online.
FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_DATA_SYNCKeeps a long archive download from being cut off. A notification is visible while it runs.
FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USEBarometer logging that you turn on yourself. While it runs, a notification with a Stop button is visible. This service makes no network requests.
POST_NOTIFICATIONSDownload progress, the pressure-logging notification and the Storm alert. On Android 13 and later the permission is requested when you turn on logging or Storm.
WAKE_LOCKLets the pressure sensor be read on schedule while the screen is off.
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETEDResumes pressure logging after the phone restarts, if you left it on.

You choose files to import through Android’s own file picker, so no storage permission is needed.

6. Purchases

Pro is bought through Google Play, and through the App Store on iPhone. The store handles your payment details. The app only receives confirmation that the purchase was made.
